Video: Sesame Street Skewers Spider-Man Musical With Grover's "Spider-Monster"
Did you watch the seemingly unending ballad from Spider-Man: Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead Turn Off The Dark on last night's Tony Awards and think to yourself "Wait, that show is still happening?" No, of course you didn't. You were watching Dallas dominate the Heat like everybody else. But if you did happen to wonder, the answer is yes. That show is still happening. In fact it officially (no joke) "opens" tomorrow night. We've seen it—twice, actually—and we'll have a review up tomorrow as soon as the Green Goblin croaks. But in the meantime, the clever folks at Sesame Street have gone and created a pitch-perfect spoof, as they are wonttodo.
There are so many reasons to love this clip. First off, any chance for our beloved Grover to shine is a good thing. But also we get a riff on this being the show's 17th opening, prat falls and no less than a muppet Bono making an appearance. We don't know if kids will dig this, but we certainly do.
Now if only the Sesame Street crew would take on Anthony Weiner and the dangers of sexting before their 42nd season begins in September. [Tip o' the Hat to Vulture]
