Flatiron District Beating Leaves Man In Critical Condition

2011_06_flatirondi.jpg Police are investigating a beating that took place at 22nd Street and Fifth Avenue in Manhattan's Flatiron District. According to 1010 WINS, a 27-year-old man "is fighting for his life Saturday morning after being beaten by a group of men" around 4:30 a.m. this morning. Fifth Avenue between 22nd and 23rd Streets is roped off.

Cops say the victim, who is in critical condition at Bellevue, "was beaten by a group of five to six other men after some kind of dispute." And the victim may have known his attacks. A witness says the attackers got out of a car and assaulted him.

While it's a commercial crossroads, there have also been violent incidents in the Flatiron District—last year, two men were fatally shot and in 2007, a man was killed in an illegal poker den robbery.

I'm sure they were yuts(young urban thugs) who were going to bible/koran study class and taking statics on the side, while working 3 jobs to afford college and supporting 20 kids.
