He also added, "He wasn’t going with prostitutes. He wasn’t going out with little boys. He wasn’t going into men’s room with broad stances. I mean, All of those I understand; I’m 80 years old. But high-tech stuff like this, I can’t respond. But I know immoral sex when I hear it from other members, and no one has screamed for their resignation. So I don’t know why they’re selecting Anthony."

Not that I'm defending his ass, but he's a politician. They all lie, all the time. And if we got rid of all the lying politicians, they would promptly be replaced by a new batch of liars.
That nihilistic attitude does no one any good. It is a pointless and destructive approach.
So your point is, because politicians have lied before, we should now just accept any politician, even when we know for a fact that they have blatantly lied to our faces? This is such a weak and detrimental way to go about thinking about politics and is one of the main reasons we have politicians like this in the first place. It really makes me sick.
Even though politicians are flawed humans like the rest of us, we have to demand and expect honesty from them. If they blatantly lie to you and you say it is ok, you really don't deserve anything better anyway.

Like anything else, you don't get in trouble for lying.
You get in trouble for getting caught lying (and not all politicians get caught for lying, particularly for lying repeatedly on tv and in public in a concentrated period of time).
Getting caught lying means two things, one) you're a proven liar and two) you're stupid too.
Weiner built his career on claiming that he's one) more honest and two) smarter than his opponents.
It's kind of hard to claim either now.
Sure, all politicians are liars, but there's credibility gaps and then there are credibility gaaaaaaa____aaaaaps.
Yeah like Dem Congressman and head of the House Banking Committee Barney Frank putting his boyfriend in an exec job at Fannie Mae and then screaming "there is no mortgage crises!" for yeas as our economy went down the drain.
What a fucking idiotic thing to say. Politicians make me want to completely withdraw from society.

Who wants Rangel defending them? Who's next? Gary Condit and OJ Simpson?
