The Human Rights Campaign's series of videos featuring famous New Yorkers in favor of gay marriage scored a big point today with its first video starring a football player. Former Giants defensive end Michael Strahan and his fiancee Nicole Murphy have now joined the ranks of Sean Avery, Moby, Vanessa Williams, Joan Rivers, Ed Koch, Kevin Bacon and the younger Barbara Bush in calling for marriage equality in New York.
The Fox NFL Sunday analyst is, according to the HRC, "our Super Bowl champion for New Yorkers for Marriage," and his support comes as another Albany vote on the issue looms large on the horizon. Strahan is the first pro football player to make a video supporting marriage equality, but maybe he won't be the last. Mark "I love musical theater" Sanchez, are you paying attention?

I don't know anything about sports, so the only football player I know by name is Scott Fujita. Michael Strahan, welcome to the list. You're...a footballer. You...are retired. From the Giants. Okay!

"dragging his ex wife through the mud in a contentious court battle..."
Isn't it the other way around? HIs wife accused him of being gay with his friend with who he was staying.

Yeah he sounds like a real dreamboat. He didn't want to honor his prenup as well as fight child support.
Here are a few more accusations
* Ditched his wife and twin 2-year-old daughters, Isabella and Sophia, to hang out with alleged mistress Nicole "Cupcake" D'Oliveira on a trip to Phoenix. * Jetted off to Caribbean islands with various other women, including the woman who sold the family their antique chairs. * Secretly videotaped Jean's sister, Denise, while she undressed in a guest bedroom. Cops were called, and Jean left him for a while, but he then allegedly came back after he deposited $30,000 in her bank account. * Forged her name on financial documents that were entered into the case. * Hounded her and tried to use lawyers to intimidate her into changing their prenup.

Yeah Michael Strahan-quite the spokesperson for marriage. He's only been divorced once, dragging his ex wife through the mud in a contentious court battle...

Good on Strahan for speaking his mind in support of this cause. Unfortunately, this is probably the most NFL action we will be seeing for a while.
