At least Painkiller, erm, PKNY, doesn't need to worry about repainting their outside (Katie Sokoler/Gothamist).

The New York custom cocktail scene is shaking up. Not only is Sasha Petraske's hugely influential Milk & Honey moving...wait for it...uptown after a decade on Eldridge street, but last year's booze-media darling, Painkiller, is being forced to change its name.

Time Out reports the Milk & Honey news in their cocktail issue. Basically the current M&H is going to be replaced by a new cocktail joint, Attaboy, from bartenders Sam Ross and Michael McIlroy, while M&H moves "further uptown sometime this fall." Attaboy will still skew to classic cocktails, but they're going to refurbish the place and they'll do away with the the current spot's reservation policy. A call to try and find out where Milk & Honey will be moving came up empty.

Meanwhile Painkiller, the still-hot (if dirty) tiki bar from the Dutch Kills crew, is now going to be called PKNY and its Painkiller drink is getting a new moniker as well. The change comes after Pusser's Rum Ltd. sued the bar for copyright infringement. Turns out they had two trademarks on the name referring to “alcoholic fruit drinks with fruit juices and cream of coconut and coconut juice,” and “non-alcoholic mixed fruit juices.”
