Mr. Booker Goes To Washington?

Is Newark's Cory Booker eyeing a seat in the Senate? Though the telegenic and Twitter-friendly mayor denied any interest in going to Washington not so long ago, his recent creation of a political action committee, called CoryPAC, has insiders wondering if he's changed his mind. But if Booker runs, how ever will he find the time to shovel out all of New Jersey?

"There's a potential for a Senate run if the lane opens up for a Senate run," a source close to Booker who was not authorized to speak on the record about the political action committee told the Star Ledger. But CoryPAC isn't just for a possible future run: "We plan to be very engaged as President Obama campaigns to be elected to a second term. This is a tool that will help us to raise money as we travel across the country."

If Booker were to run for Senate the most likely seat would be that of Frank Lautenberg, who at 87 is currently the oldest person in the Senate (also, fun fact, for various reasons Lautenberg is the only person to have been both the junior and senior senator from New Jersey twice each). Anyway, Booker can totally run his campaign on the "no driveway left behind" platform!
