Yankees 7 Toronto 3: The Yankees signed Andruw Jones to make occasional starts against left handed pitchers and provide some offensive punch against them. Wednesday he did his job perfectly. Jones launched two home runs, part of a 3-for-3 day and drove in 4 runs as the Yankees cruised to an easy win in the final game of the homestand. Freddy Garcia was the beneficiary of the offense as he won his third game of the year and Mariano Rivera appeared in his 1,000th game.
Mets 7 Chicago 4 (7 Innings): The Mets used a big 2nd inning to overcome an early deficit and win a rain-shortened game. The Cubs scored four runs in the first inning, but Dillon Gee held them from there, winning his fourth game of the year and even driving in a run. Carlos Beltran doubled home two runs in the second and the Mets drew two walks with the bases loaded to take the lead. The Mets were batting in the seventh when the rain really started to fall and the umpires called for the tarp. After a 40 minute delay the game was called and the Mets were winners.
