Study Says Salt Lake City Is Poised For Greatness, NYC Not So Much

A shaving gel company has released a list of what they claim to be the top 50 U.S. cities poised for greatness. To get to the results they examined five key areas of greatness: sports, art, music, culture and cosmopolitan factors (like LEED certifications and population growth). New York City isn't even in the Top Ten! We were totally robbed in this fake marketing campaign study, but we did come in at #11, so that's something. However, we are behind Salt Lake City, Utah—which is something else.

The rest of the Top Ten included San Francisco, Boston, Denver, Portland (Oregon), Austin, Seattle, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Philly. Some guy involved in the study says, “Each of these cities landed in the top percentiles in the arts categories and in LEED certifications, while cities like Providence and Memphis barely cracked the seventh percentile in arts and were all in the bottom sixth percentile for LEED certifications."

A brand manager for the aforementioned shave gel company clues us into the purpose of the study, saying, "it's about helping guys get their edge by showing them the places they can go to help them achieve their own personal greatness." Which, as we all know, starts with LEED certification! (Also, do people really move based on shave gel studies?)

Of course it is only coincidence that Salt Lake City happens to have a large Mormon population that keeps clean shaven for religious purposes.

Mormons can grow whatever kind of facial hair they want, unless they go to BYU.

Good, make sure the Oberlin Class of 2011 sees this. They seem to be very preoccupied with LEED and all that nonsense.
