Yankees 5 Toronto 4: For most of the game, the Yankees showed the same lifeless, uninspired play they have shown far too often in the 2011 season. CC Sabathia pitched adequately, but he trailed 4-1 after seven innings and the Yankees looked like they were going to drop the first two games against Toronto. But, Curtis Granderson doubled to start the 8th and Robinson Cano doubled him home with two outs. Russell Martin followed with a single up the middle to cut the lead to one.
That's where things remained heading into the 9th when Jorge Posada came off the bench and delivered a double with one out. The Yankees put Dickerson in to run for Posada and he advanced to third on a Jeter groundout. Curtis Granderson delivered a huge hit with two outs, singling home Dickerson to tie the game. Granderson stole second and scored when Mark Teixeira hit a rocket to the hole in first that Juan Rivera couldn't handle, sending the Yankee fans went home happy.
Cubs 11 Mets 1: On a night the Mets could have really used a good game to distract people from the off the field fun, they delivered a clunker. Jon Niese got shelled in five innings and the bullpen wasn't much better. Jose Reyes drove home the only New York run, but that certainly won't earn him Carl Crawford money.
