Don't let the turtleneck fool you. Via Facebook Yesterday we learned that a 59-year-old man with a grudge against an NYPD officer used his minivan for something other than taking the kids to soccer practice when he jumped the curb and slammed the plainclothes officer against a fence in the West Village. Joseph Dellutri, a former state employee who led cops on a 15 block chase before abandoning his car, is being held on $250,000 bail; $150,000 more than prosecutors asked for, the Daily News reports. The officer remains in the hospital with leg injuries.
Dellutri sued the NYPD last year for $100,000 for an "unjust arrest," and it's believed that the officer he injured is the one who made it. According to Dellutri's Facebook profile (a must-include in your one phone call from jail: "delete my Facebook profile!") he is "Single, never married, have no kids, don't smoke, don't drink, and looking to meet the right person for a serious relationship." We might also surmise that his favorite movie is The French Connection.
