Did Woody Allen Break His Slump With Midnight In Paris?
It's been a while for Woody Allen. Although our extremely scientific office poll revealed that many people moderately enjoyed Match Point, with Vicky Cristina Barcelona a close second, it's been well over a decade since we've seen a classic Allen hit, a la Deconstructing Harry or Bullets Over Broadway. Until now! Maybe, hopefully.
Allen's latest flick, Midnight in Paris , has been getting rave reviews since its debut at Cannes earlier this week, with critics calling announcing "Paris is Perfect" and "Midnight in Paris is Woody Allen’s best movie since Deconstructing Harry." The movie stars Allen newcomer Owen Wilson as a Hollywood screenwriter who travels to the City of Light with his whiny fiancee, Rachel McAdams, only to be swept up a fantastical after-hours phenomenon that allows him to chat with the great expats of Paris, from Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald to Ernest Hemingway and Pablo Picasso. Will it stick?
While we eagerly away Allen returning to a story set in New York, we must admit that the trailer for Paris does have us charmed.
And here's a look at a few more of Allen's finest moments:

Interesting, Owen Wilson as Woody Allen - maybe, he can pull off absurd and awkward at times.
You can still see how in these type of films - the best ones are when he was playing the role - of course Larry David certainly pulled off Whatever Works - quite underrated in the catalog I feel.

Broadway Danny Rose. Mighty Aphrodite, Manhattan Murder Mystery........ Just a few of his best other than the classics..Manhattan, Annie Hall etc..

Crimes and Misdemeanors and Stardust Memories have always been personal favorites. And I think Zelig gets lost amid all his classic older films.
