PATH Train Crashes Into Platform At Hoboken Station

From WABC 7
Dozens of people were injured when a PATH train crashed into the platform at the Hoboken station. The crash occurred around 9 a.m. and WABC 7 reports, "At least 70 people were on the train at the time that it struck what was believed to be a barrier or stop rail at the platform throwing the people inside."

Reports indicate that 45 people were injured. vhernandezcnn Tweeted, "PATH train update: Port Authority says train didn't hit the brakes hard enough as it came into Hoboken station, hit the end of line bumper." Train service in and out of Hoboken has been suspended—leading to some unhappy would-be brunchers, "Hoboken train service suspended on Mother's Day? #PATH you are the ruiner of brunches everywhere."

Update: CBS 2 reports, "The accident happened at the Eerie Lackawanna terminal around 8:30 a.m., but the cause of the crash remains under investigation, John Kelly, spokesman with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, said. Police did say it appears that a mechanical failure is to blame."

"being blind to their own bullshit"

You're making this far too easy...............

No one on earth is more blind to their own bullshit than New Yorkers (well, maybe the French).

You live in a giant, self aggrandizing masterbatorium my friend.

A mass of humanity seeking validation by way of their zip code & not personal achievement.

I remember the same thing happened several years ago. This is the only link I could find though:

They seem awful quick to blame this on mechanical failure. I'd like to see them look into it a little more before completely absolving the train driver.

  • actually the same thing happened more recently than that... in 2009, at the 33rd St station:

I guess the new trains don't like to stop.
