Metallica Promises "Enter Sandman" Live At Yankee Stadium
For over a decade Yankees closing pitcher Mariano Rivera has walked to the mound with the sound of Metallica's "Enter Sandman" echoing throughout the stadium, and now Metallica will be performing it there live.
Unfortunately, this doesn't mean Yankee Stadium is getting a house band, but rather, the group will be playing a concert there on September 14th. In a video, frontman James Hetfield said: “Hold on, Mo. Hey Yankee fans, this is James here from Metallica. And we know that 'Enter Sandman’ over the last decade has been played here in the Bronx because of No. 42. Now is your chance to hear it live, here, in your house."
Rivera didn't actually choose his entrance music, reportedly he had no preference and left it up to director of scoreboard operations Joe Pullia.
Did we mention that joining Metallica at the Big 4 concert will be Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax? That's a lot of testosterone for one place, even if it is a sports place. Get yer beertickets here.

Jay-Z and Eminem played the stadium last year, and they were sold out. Unfortunately, the artists didn't visit any local music groups, contribute any money to neighborhood music programs or give out any free tickets to hear their music.
What about the Big 4?

I look very forward to The Big 4 show. I haven't seen Metallica since they "changed" back in the early 90's. I saw Megadeth and Slayer for the American Carnage tour in 2010, and I haven't seen Anthrax since 1991. This show is a must see for true metal fans! We're probably never going to see this line up EVER again.

We're probably never going to see this line up EVER again. that is good news!

Yeah, "Enter Sandman" didn't seem like a song a Panamanian would choose for himself... but it IS a great entrance song for him.

Metallica stopped being good ca. 20 years ago.

Agreed. Saw them on the Master of Puppets tour with Cliff Burton. Once he died they shifted gears to becoming posers and rock stars.
How many of those fans hopped on the bandwagon after that atrocity otherwise known as "The Black Album" was released? Most of the fans from the Cliff Burton days can't be bothered with this tripe they're shilling now.

I've been a fan of the band from the beginning. Heard about Cliff's death on the radio whilst hanging outside with buddies, and lived through the crap served up between the Black Album and Death Magnetic, and I couldn't disagree with you more. It seems from what you wrote that you couldn't possibly be a fan or know any true fans, so there really isn't any use in discussing it further.

I smoked Cliff Burton's ashes. Who's the real fan now, muthafukka?
Seriously though, I honestly haven't listened to this album because I gave up on them years ago (I didn't even like AJFA). Being an open-minded metal fan, however, I will give it a listen.

Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in!
Seriously, "I didn't even like AJFA", really? Hey, if you don't like that album then my view was spot-on. Most folks I know that love the band loathe Load, Re-load and St. Anger. I certainly don't disagree with that sentiment, but if you don't like AJFA then I am not sure if it'll be worth your time to listen to DM.

Agreed. Not to mention the outrage their lame ass fans would have if they weren't going to play enter sandman. Its like the anthem of meatheads. Are they going to serve pre-roofied beer too?

Got my tickets on Wednesday. Can't wait. This will be amazing.

No, Hetfield, you can't borrow my Yankees jersey. Dick.

That's not as much fun as being there, but it is certainly cheaper.
