Even Al Qaeda Acknowledges Osama bin Laden Is Dead

5611osama1.jpg Five days after President Obama announced that US forces in Pakistan had successfully located and killed Osama bin Laden, Al Qaeda confirmed the death of their leader this morning. They posted a statement on jihadist forums today, which was translated by US monitoring group SITE Intelligence, vowing to avenge his death: "We call upon our Muslim people in Pakistan, on whose land Sheikh Osama was killed, to rise up and revolt to cleanse this shame that has been attached to them by a clique of traitors and thieves who sold everything to the enemies...a curse that chases the Americans and their agents, and goes after them inside and outside their countries."

Although there was much demand to see pictures of bin Laden's body, the White House announced on Wednesday that they wouldn't release any photos: "That's not who we are. We don't trot this stuff out as trophies. We don't need to spike the football," President Obama told 60 MInutes. Hopefully, this Al Qaeda message will stop conspiracy theorists from further demanding "proof" that bin Laden was buried at sea after the mission, and stop bin Laden from becoming "the new Roswell." Maybe next time Al Qaeda can release a song instead of a statement.

More information has been revealed about how bin Laden had been living before his death—Amal al-Sadah, his youngest of five wives, said she did not leave their luxury lair for five years. Asad Munir, a former Pakistani intelligence officer, echoed her statement, saying that bin Laden "never went anywhere," and split his time between only two different rooms, including the one in which he was killed.

How the death of someone can make people happy ?

Well then, I guess it's official! I like how it's automatically fact because CNN reports some third-hand account of alleged internet forum postings. What?! And the outrageous thing is, the very same people who will back this story up 100% will criticize the "conspiracy theorists" for referring to information on the INTERNET. Can't have it both ways. What a bunch of assholes.

    And who is SITE anyway?

Do you really think only 1 person or group in the entire world can understand Arabic? You want proof? Go to Al Jeezera's website and look for the video; then find an Arabic speaker who can translate it for you. Conspirators generally have no proof of anything; while here, there is proof that you can independently verify. Do you understand?

Did Al Qaeda ever really exist outside the opportunistic imagination of the US Government and it's corporate lackey media propaganda machine?

  • angry_pickle

Why don't we send you to Afghanistan and you report back to us. Too bad you didn't show yourself earlier in 2002 when Al Qaeda in Iraq was butchering people on camera; we should have sent you in to investigate further.

I'd expect some of these pictures to "leak" sometime around October next year...

  • angry_pickle

I predict it won't happen. Seeing the pictures wouldn't swing any votes. What exactly would it prove? Nothing.

Still no mention of AQ's plots to attack rail travel in NYC on Gothamist?

It looks like Republicans are unable to grasp reality. In this case they are driven by a hatred of Obama that exceeds their hatred of Osama. Why they should unquestioningly swallow so many conspiracy theories is beyond me and beyond reason. Go figure...

they're very colorful writers, these al-qaeda fellows.

And this is why the photos shouldn't be released and the conspiracy theorists can go take a flying leap. If he was still alive, it would be child's play to debunk an American lie that he was dead. Just release a video of bin Laden holding a current newspaper and laughing at us. His wives say he's dead. His daughter says he's dead. The Pakistanis say he's dead. Al Qaeda says he's dead. What more do they need?

A time machine, so Bush could be President when this happened.

    ...a rational intellect.
