Test Your Film IQ With The Best. Manhattan. Movie. Map. Ever.

If there are two things we love they are movies and New York City maps. Put the two together and you've got a recipe for stopping all productivity at Gothamist HQ. And that is exactly what Bernie Hou of Alien Loves Predator has done, having spent the last five months cramming 91 movie references onto one awesome movie map of New York.

Pretty sweet, right? Even better, you can get a copy of it for yourself. The first person to e-mail the 91 movies in the poster, in order, to Hou will get a free copy of the poster (as well three random runner-ups). Just make sure you notice that the flickr version of the poster numbers each reference! Of course, if you don't feel like doing all that work you can always buy an 18"x24" print of the map for $16. But where is the fun in that?

So far we've been able to name nearly 70 of the references (good thing we just did a post on New York's bridges in movies), including All About Eve, Cruel Intentions, Rear Window, The Seven Year Itch, Three Men and A Baby, and Zoolander. Hou tells us, "There's a few really obscure movies on there, but I actually think that any movie lover could get 'em all with the help of some creative Googling and, of course, the motivation..."

How many can you see?

Unless I missed them, no Jets, No Sharks, WTF?

  • will10009

Where's Remo Williams on the Statue of Liberty?

  • Newhce

    I see him!

  • i thought moe green was shot in vegas?

  • Politburo

    That is correct.

  • Stip

I don't see Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson in Yugo driving across Central Park.

  • But they are in the map!

  • Stip

Yes they are, but Yugo in CP, I mean...

  • mayorguilliani

the map doesn't go "across 110th street"

  • ennuipoet

    Not unlike most taxis!

  • Guest

Hard to believe no movies have been filmed, or set, above Central Park.

  • Guest

Oh, gee-- what a surprise. A map of Manhattan that conveniently "forgets" areas where certain people live.

  • Guest

I remember when I first moved here and was told by people that they never traveled below 14th st or above 96th. I couldn't believe how ridiculous that was/is.

  • Newhce

Depending on when you moved here, it might have been good advice.

  • Guest

Spider Man at Columbia? Shaft in Inwood? The entire Woody Allen oeuvre?

    For shame.

  • Guest

OK.  I guess the map itself is just wrong.
