Brooklyn Frat Boy Quits Over "Animal House" Hazing

A Brooklyn-born member of the Alpha Delta Omega fraternity has dropped out of Hartwick College, and is suing the school and the frat over their excessive hazing rituals. Michael Warren claims at one point he was forced to dress like a pimp and was paddled so hard he needed medical treatment. "The place is run like Animal House," lawyer Gerald Gross said. Umm, no, the paddling was all the Omega Theta Pi house. Leave Delta Tau Chi out of this!

Warren says he was also forced to spend a night in a bathroom being subjected to strobe lights and loud music. Gross told the Daily News, "This college has a tortured history with this type of conduct. It's not a secret this stuff goes on but they do next to nothing to prevent it." Warren quit school, leaving behind a large scholarship, but said, "No one should have to go through what I went through in order to be a part of a brotherhood. This experience has abruptly changed my life."

Whatever side of the issue you are on does not matter. Let's see what the courts say. Also, I want to know where the president of Hartwick is hiding? They don't seem very concerned with this from a PR issue. Maybe they are like the rest of the student body....glad to have a place to party and hide from the public.

That is why they call themselves the brotherhood. I bet 4 out of 5 guys who join were sexually molested as child, or endure inappropriate contact with another peer growing up and required the occasional venting of anger to relieve the sexually confusion and stress built from years of mental suppression and increase level of testosterone production.

The top alpha male can endure all mental and physical abuse from other brothers, gays, sadists, rapists, hive minds, bullies, alcoholics and his own insecurities. For he is the man or a doorknob.

Boo hoo, if they're being excessive just quit the frat or make a complaint to the student judiciary board. Loud music and strobes, please. Try going to college on a music scholarship in some of those southern school and be forced into marching band initiations that leave people comatose in the hospital

I would express the same sentiment if this were an adult, but I know how vulnerable college freshmen can be when they are probably just trying to make friends. I'm glad he was mature enough to realize that what he was going through wasn't worth it and that these people weren't his friends.

He's mature enough to get out of the fraternity, but not mature enough to realize that he made his own decision to attempt to join the fraternity, and the school has no blame in that.
