Handcuffed Boy Demands Apology From Principal

Joseph Anderson reenacts his perp walk for journalism.
The 7-year-old boy who was dragged out of class in handcuffs earlier this month wants an apology. Joseph Anderson, a special-needs student at P.S. 153 in Maspeth, appeared at a press conference yesterday with his mother and the family attorney, and demonstrated for the cameras how he was carted out of school to a waiting ambulance. He had thrown a tantrum because his Easter egg coloring didn't come out the way he wanted, and the boy explains to CBS 2, "I wanted to color my Easter egg again so my mom could know how nice was it. But Ms. Kate wouldn’t let me so I jumped on the table." Then Joseph became more upset after, he says, the teacher threatened him with a needle!

"I wanted to sit on the seat and the guy say I’m gonna get the needle,” Joseph said yesterday. His mother was summoned to the school, but as she raced there from her job in Manhattan, administrators called in a cop to handcuff Joseph. The school and the NYPD claim Joseph was a threat to himself and others because he had scissors—small plastic safety scissors. “They treated him like a perp,” his mother says.

All Joseph wants is an apology, telling reporters, "I want the principal to say sorry for handcuffing me and the cops for handcuffing me." But an apology isn't going to cover attorney Robert Nicholson's retainer; he's preparing a lawsuit against the city. Meanwhile, schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott told NY1 he's going to talk to the school's principal, but he defended the school's actions: "There are opportunities that present themselves where a student may be in danger to him or herself or to other students and those decisions have to be reached."

Anyone notice how the Real criminals are walking FREE, Buying Senators,Congressional Leaders and Judges.

Now we have 7 year olds in Hand cuffs, but the Wall Street criminals wlk FREE.

We have 3 year olds down South being arrested for Sexual Molestation for kissing one another, yet the Criminals walk FREE.

You have Innocent People losing their Homes to OUT and OUT theft by the Bankng Industry they walk FREE.

We have a Bought Paid for and Anti American corporate OWNED DOJ that refuses to do its JOB, however they can arrest a 7 year old for a temper tantrum

Lets not forget the parent of Welfare and Government AID, that lost everything and caused her friend to loose everything because she wanted a BETTER school for her child, yet the REAL CRIMINALS in the Financial World walk FREE and notice how the FAVORS are exchanged for the REAL CRIMINALS, versus those trying to make it better.

However we must DEMONIZE all survival situations and make then CRIMINAL ACTS so the REAL CRIMINALS can walk FREE.

why from the principal? O.o its not like he told the cops to handcuff the boy. also, don't nypd have plastic ties for restraint?? i dont think the cops messed up though, he needed to gtfo the table before he hurt someone. and i think it's good the cops took pre emptive movement before waiting for something to happen. If anything, the school isnt well equipped for special needs kids. Arent they placed in separate classes? Although I read he has ADD/ hyperactivity, which makes him integrateable in normal classes? Lots of holes in the story.

The school can administer needles and the drugs inside needles, but they arn't qualified for restraint?

    Is drugging kids normal practice?

  • YOU ARE ALL SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENTS.

Stick it to the man, kid!

He should reenact the tantrum as well, you know, to be fair and balanced.

maybe the little animal should have demonstrated how he jumped on the table & all the other things he did that warranted calling in the police.

He's a special needs (which likely means he's autistic on some level) 7 year old boy. There are a host of guidelines in place for dealing with a special needs student that is acting out.

    Cuffs aren't one of them.

  • schmeep

Special needs does not necessarily mean autistic. It can mean psychiatric...in which case, hospitalization might be recommended...in which case, yes, restraint including handcuffs would be implemented.

  • LtWorf

Special needs? I agree. What he NEEDS is a spanking.

    Amen.

Proverbs: "Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell. My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine."

in my yoga sessions i chant "Oh-mmmmmm".
when i read my KJV, i say "Ah-men".

and sometimes, i mix the two and say, OMEN.

GOD IS GREAT TO THOSE WHO ARE FLEXIBLE.

  • randomtransplant

I think probably 'thine heart be wise' translated into 'beating your kid at the drop of a hat is really shitty parenting'

  • Guest

there's a difference between "spanking" and "beating the shit out of your kid." at least there used to be. the former is done out of good, and the latter is done out of evil. two people can have sex and in one case we call it "making love" and in another, "rape".

it's not the action, but the feeling (and the motive) behind it.

but you know, we've all been pussified a long time ago. more things are becoming rigid.

  • whitecastlerock

Animal? A 7 year old special needs child must be held accountable for his actions...

  • silver

    With Thorazine?
