if you or someone you know might be in a controlling relationship, please have them call safe horizons. keep the numbers in your phone to share with people who might need them. and remember, if someone tells you about something that happens/happened to them, if raped get the victim to an emergency room immediately and discreetly notify the triage desk of the situation. remember that showering after can remove important evidence, so even if you feel disgusting the perpetrator will more likely face consequences if you can make it to the ER for a rape kit "dirty". in the case of assault, calling 911 or seeing the domestic violence officer at your local precinct is best. women should not be injured or killed by people they trust, and if a friend of yours is in a relationship that "doesn't seem right", it probably isn't. trust your instincts.
