7-Eleven To Introduce Genius Dual-Chambered Slurpees

Gotta love that valve thingy.
With warm weather just around the corner, USA Today has taken a look at some of the strange new drinks coming to chains near you (Mountain Dew Coolattas! Jamocha Oreo Shakes!) and one new drink in particular deserves calling out for its sheer genius (really a new cup). In June 7-Eleven will be putting out a line of dual-chambered Slurpees for those times when one flavor just isn't enough. And it gets better.

Along with the dual chambers, the new Slurpees will come with a special straw that dips into both chambers and includes a "valve thingy" (in USA Today's words) that lets you switch between flavors with the flick of a switch. Also, this is going to be perfect for couples looking to share their Slurpees without having to settle on one flavor.

As long time fans of Nerds—whose two flaps let you choose between having your candy flavors one at a time or together—we're all for this development and expect to see if picked up by our nation's beverage companies ASAP. After all, Americans should not have to buy separate bottles of Cherry Coke and Mountain Dew! Or maybe the Four Loko folk could drop a can with the booze on one side and the caffeinated craziness on the other?

i love the sour power straws that 7-11 used to sell - cherry straw and a cola slurpee - self serve cherry coke!

  • This idea was stolen by 7 & I Holdings – the parent of 7-Eleven. A guy in Kansas City has been working on the concept for the past two years and filed a provisional patent for it on June 13, 2009. He introduced it to 7 & I under the trademark name of ‘Choozee-Straw’ and uploaded an animated video for them at a website of the same name. Big corporation about to screw a little guy out of the fruits of his labor… Spread the word!!! Entrepreneurs fuel innovation and corporations hope they won’t have the $$ to defend their patents. Stand up for the innovators!!

The 7-Elevens in Hong Kong serve dim sum. And you can use the equivalent of a Metrocard to pay for stuff there.

Uh, guys? A LOT of 7-Elevens just opened up in Manhattan...one opened up just across the street from me on E. 20th Street.

  • NlGGAZ

It's a trick. All the colors taste the same: sugary.

  • TheRealCannibal

LIES!!! The blue most definitely tastes blue.

  • Thank god USA Today is around to give us such hard-hitting coverage.

Real New Yorkers have no idea what a 7-Eleven is. So why does Gothamist acknowlege their existence? I mean, this is news? Smells more like "product placement" to me.

As I said downthread, there is a 7-11 across from PABT... (345 West 42nd Street)

And they have the BEST iced coffee

  • TheRealCannibal

BTW, my coworkers who lives in GP said Peter Pan's moving...

  • TheRealCannibal

I just called them and confirmed that your coworkers are full of shit. Donuts and bialys for all.

  • Peanut_Butter

    I meant just one coworker.

Hey, she's the one that brings me donuts in the morning. Far be it for me to complain. Maybe it's a line she fed me, I dunno...

  • TheRealCannibal

I think she wants to keep them all for herself. Tell her, NICE TRY!

  • Rocknrope

    Douchy comment.

  • There's one out by Knapp Street in Brooklyn, when my boy had baseball games there we ALWAYS got Slurpees to beat the heat. The best skull freezes EVER.

7-Eleven kicks ass and this Real New Yorker used to go out of his way to swing by the Rego Park 7-Eleven whenever he could in the 80s and 90s. Shout out to my homies at the 7-Eleven Lefferts Blvd in Kew Gardens as well.
