The scene outside the auto repair shop (WCBS 2) An off-duty Triboro-Bridge and Tunnel Authority police officer was shot and wounded in a shootout with four would-be robbers in Brooklyn Saturday evening. The cop, Anthony Pressly, fired at them, injuring two. It was initially thought that one of the would-be robbers was dead; a witness said, "People said, 'Oh, s- -t! He's dead.' [His] body was on the other side and the police were flipping the body over."
The four armed men were apparently trying to rob the DSG Auto Repair shop at 74 Albany Avenue in Bedford Stuyvesant. Pressly and others inside the shop were ordered to the ground. The Post reports, "When Pressly, a 10-year veteran, saw that the suspects were rifling through people's pockets, he pulled out his service revolver, identified himself as a cop and ordered the thugs to drop their weapon." Then, it turned into a shootout.
Another witness said, "I heard about five, six shots. When I opened the door, I seen three guys running from his shop and I seen one on the floor. He was not moving at all." According to the Daily News, "One was nabbed inside the shop and another managed to limp away from the scene and stumbled into Interfaith Medical Center across the street, sources said."
Pressly was hit in the shoulder, but was taken to the hospital in stable condition. His mother proudly told the Post, "I'm not really surprised, that's the type of person he is. He's a hero. He's brave. If he could help anyone, he would."
