Jersey City Schools Super Says, "Young Girls Are Bad"

Are girls really so bad?
Yesterday, Jersey City Schools Superintendent Charles Epps told a group of pastors, "Our worst enemy is the young ladies. The young girls are bad. I don't know what they're drinking today, but they're bad," noting how the school systems pay $1 million for police officers. But afterwards he explains he was just speaking "metaphorically" and meant to refer to both "young ladies" and, we guess, little gentlemen.

Epps apologized, but his spokeswoman emphasized that Epps simply believes that much of today's youth is "rude" and in trouble. According to the Jersey Journal, Epps also described his efforts looking for mentors for students, and appreciated that JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs staffers had volunteered, "They've signed up to help even the dirty, nasty, bad kids."

Remember that young engaged couple who was shot dead on their own block last spring by two young girls trying to get into a gang? In JC, right near/on Ocean Ave?

It sounds to me like Epps is doing his job. Most people are too sexist to acknowledge that girls can be criminals too.

    Fire him.

If he had said: "Our worst enemy is the black kids. The black kids are bad. I don't know what they're drinking today, but they're bad.", there would be rioting.

Stop accepting and ignoring sexism. It's the same as racism or homophobia. NOT acceptable.

    b*tch/c*nt=nigg3*

    Fire him.

As a Black Female I am inclined to agree with that "Broad" statement. I don't know what he "truly" meant; I do know that women in general behave much worse than men because tooooooo many are "breeding" children without having done MUCH necessary work on self.

If he had said "our worst enemy is the young men...." It wouldn't even be conspicuous.

  • Guest

I can't remember anyone ever saying, "young men are the enemy" Can you? Ever? That's a very strong statement.

I may feel sometimes that young men are the enemy, but I would never say it, because I know it's not true.

Those kind of extreme statements don't belong in a civilized humanist culture.

"I may feel sometimes that young men are the enemy"

You should work through your bigotry privately, it colors your perspective on issues like this in polarizing ways which exasperate gender discord.

...for some reason unbeknownst to me, you're like what's-his-name converted from being an extreme "animalist" to an extreme humanist -- slightly better, but still way too extreme for my taste.

  • Guest

It's also interesting that you are using the word "extreme" to refer to me, and not to what this guy said. Recognize the true extrism here, not my reaction to it. Say it's not to your taste to hear a whole group of people being called "enemy", not that my response is not to your taste. What's really important to you?

    flexibility.

  • Guest

You think I'm not flexible. So what should I be flexible about in this case exactly? Do you draw any lines? If this guys said, I hate young women and I think they need their own schools, that woul.d be okay with you? How do you think you keep people like him from making more extreme statements than the one he made, other than to punish him for making such a statement? Where do you draw the line? When it's too late, and it doesn't matter? When you are weak and have no power because all along you've been flexible?

  • Guest

i'm sorry, but i'm not going to answer all those questions. i think i'm done responding to you; i'm trying to lower my blood pressure -- have a wonderful day!

    :)

  • Ain't nothing in this 'verse that somebody can't try to blame on devil wimmin folk.

That sounds like something that would come out of Mal's mouth.
