Lots of stuff happening in the weather department the next few days, but as of now it all looks pretty weak and inconsequential. Hey, that's just like Mayor Bloomberg's third term! For today there's a low pressure system moving off the Virginia coast and high pressure located just east of New England. Those two systems are going to do a little dance where the low wants to give us clouds and rain and the high wants to keep the city dry. The end result is a mostly cloudy day with a slight chance of light rain this afternoon and evening. Thanks to easterly winds this afternoon's high will only reach the lower 50s.
As the Virginia storm moves out to sea tomorrow it will push the New England high westward. That should result in a lovely spring day of mostly sunny skies and a high temperature approaching 60 degrees. Clouds, and most likely light rain but maybe a thunderstorm, return on Sunday as the high switches out of reverse and once again heads eastward.
A warm front is expected to pass through the city sometime Sunday night. Guess what's behind the warm front? Warm air! Okay, that was an easy one. Despite cloudy skies and possibly rain, Monday's high is expected to reach the upper 60s if not the mid 70s. The rest of next week won't be that warm but we should see highs in the 60s through Thursday if not longer.
