Bank Robbers Literally Caught Red-Handed

201104_redhand.jpg You know the phrase "they caught them red-handed?" Yeah, well, yesterday the NYPD literally caught two bank robbers red-handed. According to police on Tuesday morning Richard Marrero, 43, and Felix Miranda, 62, flashed a .25 caliber pistol at a Chase in Astoria and made off in a waiting getaway van with $13,280 cash (and some dye packs) in hand. You can see where this is going.

Unfortunately for the bank-robbers a witness got the plates from their getaway van and police were able to track it to the Bronx. And that is where they found the red dye-covered duo with about $12,000 in cash. Further, they found more dye-splattered money and clothing in the building's incinerator, as well as the weapon.

Marrero and Miranda are expected to be arraigned in Federal Court today.

But all of this is a long way of getting to something we've been wondering. Are we the only people who can't help but think "what color are their hands now?" every time anything red-handed comes up in conversation? Or have we just seen The Great Muppet Caper too many times?

Invest in a switch operated license plate changer. Take hostage to avoid dye packs. Idiots.

Dress like a clown and leave as a fake hostage. Catch a criminal on the flight from JFK. Morons!

Only 13k for robbing a bank? Seems like a waste of time to me.
