Restaurant Runs Out Of Fried Chicken, Chicken-Addict Attacks

040511crown.jpg One Brooklyn man proved the food addiction skeptics wrong when he demonstrated that the disease can produce the kind of violence and crime associated with drug and alcohol addictions. David Murray, 23, arrived at Crown Fried Chicken on Tompkins Avenue around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, needing his fried chicken breast fix. But when an employee told him they were out, he freaked out and attacked.

Murray threw a garbage can at the employee, then left and returned with a baseball bat, smashing and ATM and threatening to hit the cashier. Police arrived and Murray was charged with criminal misdemeanor, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. Great, a young man's life ruined all because he was jonesing for some fried chicken breasts, which c'mon, everybody eats. If they just legalized fried chicken breasts we wouldn't have all this crime!

Now, I'm not condoning this kind of violence, but having made my share of 2:30 a.m. trips to the local Crown Fried Chicken, I can testify to the man's extreme frustration. However, I find the leg and thigh combo easier to deal with in at 2:30 a.m.

Why am I all but certain this guy has some sort of mental issue that would make this story Not At All Funny if we knew about it?

And there is nowhere else to get chicken in Brooklyn. That is the ONLY place.

  • And there's not another Crown Fried Chicken (or Kennedy Fried Chicken) less than 3 blocks away. (I used to live at the corner of Tompkins & Macon. I don't think there's anything ELSE there. Even the Chinese places sell tons of fried chicken.)

I'm addicted to air, so I'm glad it's free.

Nah, you can quit anytime. Go ahead. You can kick the habit. We're all rooting for you.

Sorry. I can't. It's got too much of a stranglehold on me.

We'd be happy to stage an intervention. Where will you be this evening?

  • Guest

At home, inhaling some THC with my air.

It's no myth, people are fully capable of being addicted to chicken and becoming violent when they don't get their fix-
