Is Black Swan The New Rocky Horror?

032611swan.jpg Now that the Post brings it up, there are a lot of similarities between Black Swan and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Crazy makeup, toeing the line between fantasy and reality, and awkward homosexual encounters. So it makes sense for Black Swan to become the latest in a long history of movies to get the midnight screening treatment. On April 2nd drag queen Shequida will be hosting a free screening at the Landmark Sunshine Theatre, and everyone is encouraged to come in their best ballerina costumes. Bonus points for the bloodshot eyes!

Tickets are available here, and the hosts say it will be an "interactive" screening. Any ideas for callbacks? How about throwing feathers at the screen every time you feel an uncontrollable urge to run out of the theater screaming? In other Black Swan news, Natalie Portman's body double claims Portman did just five percent of the full body dance shots in the movie, and that she has been the victim of a "cover up." Surprise?

  • Every so often a new film comes along to lay claim to the "Next Rocky Horror" prize. I can probably name a dozen without really trying. Rocky Horror still blazes on.

But that said I am all for interactive movie going experiences.
