Michael and Denise Kenny Earlier this month, a woman was fatally stabbed in the Midtown hair salon where she worked. Police immediately pegged Denise Kenny's murder on her ex-con husband, Mike Kenny, who they said left "a trail of bloody footprints as he bolted with stolen cash" from the salon. Kenny was arraigned yesterday on murder charges, and his rambling, profane confession/statement was released: "Is my wife okay? Do you know I stabbed her? Seven times. With a knife," he allegedly told cops the day of the murder.
Kenny went on the run after the murder, and was caught by police in Maryland. He allegedly said to them, "All I give a f--- about is that you listen to me. I want you to get it word for word." He claimed his wife cheated on him, using language "too vile to be published, including the N-word," according to the News. He also tried to goad cops into shooting him instead of arresting him: "They're going to f - - k me," he allegedly told cops after being apprehended.
Police say that Kenny, who has a 22-year long rap sheet, had an abusive relationship with his Trinidadian wife, who he met three years ago—he even spent two months in jail for violating a restraining order against her. He allegedly broke down and killed the mother of two after she gave him a shave and a hair cut, but refused to reconcile with him. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life if convicted.
