Chris Brown Sorry For GMA Freak Out, But Felt He Was Being Exploited

2011_03_chrisbrown.jpg A day after freaking out and smashing a window in a dressing room at ABC's Times Square studios, singer Chris Brown has apologized for his behavior. On BET's 106 and Park Brown said, "First of all, I want to apologize to anybody who was startled in the office, or anybody who was offended or really looked, and [was] disappointed at my actions. Because I'm disappointed in the way I acted."

Brown had been on Good Morning America and was upset by questions from host Robin Roberts about his former girlfriend, Rihanna. Roberts had asked, "Recently, the restraining order against you that Rihanna had issued has been relaxed. Have you seen each other, been around each other?" referring to how Brown beat Rihanna in 2009 and later pleaded to felony assault. Brown answered, "Not really," and continued discussing his new album, but off-air, he was very unhappy. Here's how ABC News explains the incident:

A fuming Brown returned to his dressing room after the interview and performance of "Yeah 3x," the lead single off his new album.

Then he came back down the hall, still backstage, and stopped upon seeing the person who produced the segment. Brown didn't have his shirt on.

The show's hair and makeup staff said they called security because they heard loud noises coming from Brown's dressing room.

At one point, a cooler was thrown and a window in the dressing room was broken. The thick glass was destroyed and strewn across the street below.

ABC is not pressing charges against Brown—and GMA extended an invite for Brown to come back on the show. During today's BET interview, Brown said no one was injured and added that he thought the GMA appearance would focus on his new album, "I felt like, 'OK, they told us this just so they can get us on the show so they can exploit me.' You know, that's what I thought. I kind of took it very, very hard. And I kept my composure throughout the interview, although you could see me upset, you know. I kept my composure and did my performances, and when I got back, I just let off, like, steam in the back."

Brown has been doing a lot of apologizing lately—nearly two weeks ago, after the earthquake in Japan, he Tweeted, "For anyone I’ve ever hurt, cursed out, yelled at, been rude too!! I sincerely apologize!! Life is beautiful and we are Beautiful People." But he must be feeling good—his album is headed for #1.

  • People. Chris Brown is a child abuse victim who wet his pants and peed in the bed as a TEENAGER because of his stepfather 's abuse and watching his mother not able to help her from being beaten.

The he got a recording contract three years afterwards .He's not a cocky punk. He's an unstable and untreated case. He was conditione d to get physical by his abuser from the ages of 7-13. He's only 21 now. He's not far removed from it.

Instead of shunning him and suggesting he should go to prison (which does NOT rehabillia te former victims, if anything he'd feel more victimized and come out worse)

Will you stop berating him when he kills himself?

Yes what he did to Rihanna was horrible. She herself witnessed her own mother's abuse and went on to be abusive to her little brothers so bad one ended up in the emergency room ( re. Giant Magazine) Two troubled young adults don't belong together trying to 'fix' each other.

Yes breaking a window is bad but it's a step down from hurting someone and hopefully next time he wasn't have to get extremely physical again. He needs help not protests and the racial implicatio ns that come with usage of the word 'thug'.

He could be post-traum atic and wishing him to hell is ridiculous . People wishing violence upon him are hypocritic al. He was in a chain of violence since childhood.

"Will you stop berating him when he kills himself?"

    Yes.

  • Chris Brown, king of the non-apology apologies. "GEEZ guys don't you realize that since I don't feel remorse about being a violent offender I am trying to avoid talking about it? GOSH."

  • HypocraticOath

This idiot looks like Wesley Snipes in Demolition Man, only without the muscles or acting talent. Seriously, he needs to get hit by a bus. Can we get Ophadell Williams to be his chauffeur?

  • splicernyc

Those poor exploited celebrities being asked questions that aren't pre-approved. Oh the injustice of it all.

White people exploiting black people, so what's new?

  • souper_crackers

Who's the white person exploiting him? Robin's black, too. People should exploit the fact that he's a total dick, and he could have hurt or killed someone with breaking glass or a chair falling from above.

  • PaulaNYC

More "Celebrity Justice" from Ray Kelly???

He threw a CHAIR toward a window that faced the STREET; the glass shattered and some shards fell to the street, where they could have hit pedestrians. Had it not been safety glass, someone would have been hurt. Its wreckless endangerment and vandalism.

Oh, but wait....he's a CELEBRITY!!!! We give them gun permits and pretty much let guys like this jerk and Charlie Sheen BEAT people, endanger them, and destroy property pretty much without ANY sanction whatsoever here in New York City.

Its all part of the "creative process", you see....and getting that table at Rao's with Don Imus...

  • otmshank

What are you talking about? Lil' Wayne, Plaxico Burress, and Foxy Brown are celebs who have spent or are still spending time in prison due to crimes commited in NYC. Those are just a few off the top of my head. How do they fit into your theory?

  • always freaking out...work on your temperance boy!!!!

  • that bleached blond hairstyle is horrible.

  • "...exploited...."

Don't like negative attention? Get out of show business. Chump.

  • m015094

Or don't beat up women or throw chairs through windows.

Isn't this guy on probation? Why hasn't he been hauled to jail already?
