Cops Arrest Teens For Fatal Purse Mugging, Suspect's Mom Says It's A Set-Up

2011_03_qnscoup.jpg The police arrested three teens for the fatal mugging of a Queens woman last week. Rabia Mohammed, 23, apparently refused to give up her purse, which held $20 in cash, an iPod and her cell phone, and she was shot in the heart. The suspects are 16 and 17 years old and will be charged with second-degree murder, robbery and possession of a criminal weapon, but one's mother spoke to the Post, "He told me, ‘Mommy, I just didn’t do it’ ... but they’re trying to pin me with murder. I didn’t kill no one.'"

The teens, Tiyquon Hodges, 16, Corey Brown, 17, and Ian Green, 17, were arrested in connection with a St. Patrick's Day robbery which occurred in the same area as the fatal mugging; according to the News, "After a lengthy stationhouse grilling, the three were charged in connection with the fatal stickup of Mohammed, but Hodges was hit only with robbery raps. Green admitted to the killing, according to prosecutors, but told cops it was an accident because he thought the gun's safety mechanism was on."

Mohammed's husband, Shazam Khan, believes his wife was trying to save the cellphone, which held sentimental texts they sent each other.

Fuck'em all. If you take them at their word - the shooting was an accident - God forbid they're so traumatized by their taking of a human life that they mend their ways and study hard and go on to live blameless lives, or you know, confess to their parents/church/police of their own volition.

No, they continue to rob people days later. Probably with a gun. Fuck'em sideways.

I would've preferred if he shot himself in the face because he "thought" the safety was on.

Keep your eye on the sparrow.

You sure this isn't a usual suspects arrest? The NYPD is known for this. I have little doubt a bunch of punk hoodrats did this deed, but did you get the right hoodrats?

  • BoogieDown

    "Green admitted to the killing"

  • Ph

No offense, but as someone pretty close to law enforcement, that doesn't really mean shit.

  • BoogieDown

Perhaps they just took his use of double negatives as a confession. I didn’t kill no one = I did kill someone. See kids, this is why it's important to pay attention in school. One minute you think you're sounding all cool, the next you've unwittingly confessed to a murder!

  • ptginnyc

His mom didn't even invoke the fact that he's a good student; how could we possibly believe her?

  • NYDirk

But Tiyquon is an aspiring rapper!

I know this will sound cruel, but if Ian Green didn't kill anyone like he claims it's unlikely he would be accused of such a crime had he been at home and not in the streets terrorizing people. I really hate to see people tossed in jail for crimes they didn't commit, but it's really hard for me to even care if Green killed this woman because of the other things he's accused of doing.

  • shocktheday

Can Green's mother be charged with stupidity ?

  • Guest

    yeh, i was framed man.
i wish these shitheels could read this: even though its a little rainy out, i'm going for a walk. maybe go to the deli, or stop at a bar for a beer, possibly strike up a conversation with a pretty lady and end up fucking a stranger.
my point being, rot in jail! you little pieces of shit!
all your denying pleas are falling on deaf ears.

  • fuk wiff wat u say bout my homiiez

I'm not blaming the victim, because my wife also holds texts between us sentimental, but it just ain't worth it. Give up the phone, not your life.

  • tippmann

These animals were caught only after committing more muggings. I hope some day in the future, when they're feeling the most secure in their lives, most content, a tragedy of even greater proportions tears it all away from them and they're left with nothing but their hell gotten karma to explain it.
