Heidi Jones Seeks Plea Deal In "Fake Rape" Claim Case

2011_03_heidijones2.jpg Last December, WABC 7 weather anchor Heidi Jones was arrested after allegedly lying to cops by claiming that she'd been nearly raped by a Hispanic man in Central Park. She pleaded not guilty to filing false a police report, but now it looks like she's looking for a plea deal. Her lawyer told the judge at a hearing yesterday, "We're involved in active discussions about a possible resolution in the case."

The alleged timeline of Jones' claims (as per police source whispers to the Daily News and Post) seem to be this: In late November, Jones claimed she was nearly attacked in Central Park on September 21. She also allegedly said her would-be attacker found her a few days earlier (on November 21) and threatened her—and she allegedly said that she tried to tell police about the attack in September, but cops refused to take her report.

At that point, cops spent hours investigating the claims (even questioning a Hispanic man) and also assigned her Special Victims Unit detectives to chauffeur her around the city. But detectives became suspicious, based on conversations Jones had with her sister while being driven by cops, and because Jones
was flaking out on meetings about the case.

When the police confronted her with the inconsistencies, she allegedly told them, "I did make this up. I made it up for attention. I have so much stress at work, with my personal life and with my family. I know there is no justification for it." The News reports that her lawyer told the judge that if there is no plea deal, "he will seek to have several mea-culpa statements Jones allegedly made to cops barred as evidence against her at trial."

My thing is . How the hell does a person claim they were "Nearly" Raped ? How does that work ? Is it one of them "Whites Only" rules or something ? Seriously, I just can't seem to wrap my head around this concept .

    >She filed a fake rape report against an imaginary Puerto Rican, but since she's white, she gets an imaginary sentence and goes to fake jail.

Sad, yet true, and brilliantly put

  • Rocknrope

I wonder, of all the false accusations of prepetrated crimes, how many are white people identifying the perpetrator as a black or hispanic person? Can someone look into those stats?

A plea deal - of course.

This is America - we don't send our chosen whites to jail.

    Agreed !

    >If you don't let her off lightly, I'll ask you to not allow the times she admitted she was lying to be used as evidence."

I mean...right? That's what that sentence means? And that might be allowed?

They need to throw the entire fucking library at this woman. Seriously, she needs to do time and have her career effectively ended by this, even worse than it already is.

These types of false accusations cannot be taken lightly, for a number of different reasons..mainly that they set back race relations by decades when they happen.

This woman is a disgrace to anyone who has actually been raped. Scrap that....she's a disgrace to EVERYONE. I completely agree with her going to jail for a long, long time. It wasn't like she picked the accidentally picked the wrong person out of a lineup. She fabricated this story to the detriment of innocent Hispanic men.

The plea deal should be that she only goes to jail for 5 years instead of 10.

  • She deserves to be charged with a hate crime...imagine how many innocent Black and Latino men are currently behind bars because of psychos like her.
