Suspect Chiu Tsang
Over the weekend, a fire broke out at 510 61st Street in Brooklyn, injuring about 40 civilians and firefighters, and taking 138 firefighters 2 1/2 hours to get the blaze under control. Now, 56-year-old Chiu Tsang has been arrested for arson in connection with the fire.

Police say Tsang was caught on surveillance video, and has made incriminating admissions to fire marshals. However, his motive still remains unknown. Chief Fire Marshal Robert Byrnes said, "This depraved act of setting a fire in a fully occupied building, during the early morning hours will not be tolerated in our city. I would like to commend our fire marshals, whose quick actions led to the timely identification and apprehension of this individual." Tsang also faces charges of criminal mischief and multiple counts of assault.

    Okay, you have the floor...

Historically Bay Ridge began even higher up, around 50th Street, or sometimes even the 40's according to late great Brooklyn historian Eliot Willensky. But in my lifetime it was always understood that the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help on the Northeast corner of 60th and 5th Ave (in Sunset Park), is the big landmark divider between Bay Ridge and Sunset Park. Neighborhood borders in NYC have always been in flux so this might very well not be the case in 10 or 20 years, but for now I would say that 61st is Bay Ridge...

You are all wrong, its Fort Hamilton.

    Not even close.

Not from the maps I've seen, unless they were all inaccurate. For the most part, Bay Ridge is inside the Belt and Gowanus Expressway. 61st and 5th is outside of that.

Anything south of 60th Street and west of Fort Hamilton Parkway is Bay Ridge

There's a U.S. post office on the next block on 61st street so I called them to get an official answer thinking they would be the authorities to answer such a dispute. They told me, "Who gives a shit, get a f'n life".

The neighborhood between 61st between 5th and 8th aves are still distinctly Sunset Park. I think Bay Ridge starts below the entrance ramp to the BQE on 65th or even below the park on 66th/67th streets.

Anyway, if this guy isn't a deranged revenge seeker, I almost suspect that he's a stooge working for gangsters. All speculation of course.
