After a few years of teasing the public with brief promotional runs of Pepsi and Mountain Dew Throwback—in which the sodas feature sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup and come in cans with retro designs like the one Cindy Crawford used to drink from on TV—New York's own PepsiCo is committing to them full time. The news isn't that shocking though considering the last round of promotional runs earned the company an extra $220 million in sales.
And Pepsi and Mountain Dew aren't the only products being brought back. After finding success with a "retro" Doritos bag around the Super Bowl, Frito-Lay has announced plans to permanently sell "Doritos Taco Flavor Tortilla Chips," which feature a 1980s package design and recipe formula.
All of which we are happy to hear, if only because the sugared Pepsi just tastes better to us than the one with HFCS. At least the retro cans don't have eating disorders. But while they are at it, what we really want Pepsi to bring back is the late Crystal Clear Pepsi. With Zima dead and gone and the market flooded with fancy flavored waters, RIGHT NOW seems like the perfect time to bring back the ultimate clear beverage besides, well, tap water:

Crystal pepsi was awesome. they should have just marketed it under a different brand name so people didn't freak out about the lack of food coloring. my friend has a 6 pack left, i want to try one, just for a "one last time" but i bet it's flat as shit by now, possibly rotten. I don't know what the actual shelf life of a canned soda is...
Real sugar tastes better then the processed shit they put in the can ! Should have never abandoned it . That's whats driving thr high rates of diabetes in kids . The body can't process the "Wonder" sugar so in rejects it !

This isn't a marketing ploy. Real sugar became cheaper than fructose corn syrup, thats why they switched.
That is correct. A few days ago corn hit $7.64 on the commodities exchange because of all the farmers producing ethanol-grade corn instead of food-grade corn.
Not a bad side effect, I say.

Actually it is a bad side effect for global food pricing. Corn being produced for ethanol has very wide reaching ramnifications on food supply and spot prices for stuff like feed for livestock.
I meant "Good side effect" in that it'll cut the amount of HFCS being used. It's definitely not good for the overall economy, but I was talking about it from a different angle.
