Rollerblades suffered another PR blow on Sunday when the a dim-witted thief tried to rob a Brooklyn deli while skating inline. Around 6:15 p.m. on Sunday Igor Dubovoy allegedly skated into the Belarus Grocery at 495 Neptune Avenue, pulled out a BB gun and demanded cash. And then things got amusing.

After the cashier eventually turned over $100 bucks in twenties Dubovoy tried to glide out the door. And he would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for those meddling customers. See, some of the store's actual shoppers didn't like what the skater was doing, so before he could leave they shut and locked the door!

Police quickly arrived and arrested Dubovoy, charging him with robbery, menacing and possession of air pistols.

But what we want to know is this: When did New York turn into an episode of Reno 911!? Terry, is that you?

hahahaha RENO 911 The Move 2: Terry takes on Broadway.

I'm seeing a chase scene down the West Side Highway with Dangle on the most fruity bike to be found & Terry acting fabulous on his roller blades.

Seriously though, wouldn't 'bladers rather be set back ten years?

When did owning an air pistol become a crime?

  • JesseCal

When you use the air-pistol in the commission of a felony crime. . . that's when!

  • Guest

I understand that, but that's not what the charge was. The charge, as stated in this post, was just for owning one.

In NYC? I don't know... a couple decades ago, I'd guess.

  • Guest

I did not know that. I'm surprised anyone here can function on a daily basis without becoming a criminal.

remember the early 90's when inline skating was a crazy fad and everyone was doing it? then gays took it over and no straight guy ever wanted to rollerblade ever again. Now it's like seeing a unicorn if you see anyone rollerblading besides a guy in hot pants.

  • thinprep

tru dat. It was great exercise for me but stopped it because of its gayness.

Hockey players use inline skates when not playing on ice.
