Anti-Abortion Billboard Coming Down, Al Sharpton Takes Credit

022411abort2.jpg A pro-life group has, ahem, aborted plans to keep a controversial billboard in SoHo up for three weeks, and will remove it prematurely, according to Al Sharpton, who tells the Daily News, "The billboard was offensive, especially during Black History Month, and I had intended to hold a press conference Friday in front of the billboard to protest the message of racial profiling and against a woman"s right to choose." Representatives of the group sponsoring the billboard, Life Always, have not yet confirmed this, but if true, local residents who were offended by the billboard are sure to be pleased. Also pleased: the mother of the girl in the ad.

Two years ago, Tricia Fraser signed up with a modeling agency to have all four of her children photographed, and she was aware that the images would probably be used as stock photos for any number of ads. But she did not anticipate her daughter Anissa would one day appear on a giant billboard with the words "The most dangerous place for an African American is in the womb." Fraser tells Fox 5, "I would never endorse something like that. Especially with my child's image. It's bad enough you're saying this about African Americans, but then you put a child with an innocent face. I just want the image off of it. Use another image—just not hers."

Well, if it comes down early, it looks like Al Sharpton can expect a muffin basket from a very grateful mom. Of course, Kanye will probably find a way to take credit for this somehow.

  • What's wrong with African Americans getting abortions? This is something we call can agree is a good thing.
  • AsThouWilt
Al. Are your a christian or a opportunist polirtician. As a Christian you should oppose abortion. Abortion is a economic thing. People consider how much is this "life" going to cost. How will I look society. Thats so petty. Lets support young womens reproductive rights. Let them bring their children into the world without being viewed as whores, sluts , economic burdens, etc. Thanks to all mothers. And to women who have commited abortion your forgiven. Because If you had proper support you would have had your child. Let me add rape is an exception, IMMEDIATE threat to life is an exception. Social and economic inconvenience reasons are chilling. Just to add, I dont follow any religion.

Maybe we're missing the root cause here. Black men don't care about black women having their babies, in fact I've heard many of them brag about it. They are the culprits putting teenage mothers in a situation about as bad as slavery and condemning those mothers and their offspring to a life of poverty, crime and drug addiction. Some of them who admit the possible paternity will attempt to offer some support, but its always too little and those kids don't have a prayer and/or a chance.

Now lets hear the racist accusations, but you know I'm right.

i thought this billboard was trying to convince black people to use condoms. (seriously, condoms are free!)
  • Note their specific avoidance to propose a practical solution to this problem - regularly using birth control. Condoms. The Pill. Anything to avoid having to have an abortion and still have a chance at life.

Of course, the pro-lifers have no interest in providing practical solutions. They only want to further their own moral idealism that doesn't work in a world where women can still use coat hangers and a stairwell if you deny them a safe, affordable means to abortion.

I care about the lives of unborn black fetuses, yet I don't whine about welfare programs, so go figure that one out!
  • unretrofiedforu
No, you only care about the lives of unborn black babies when it furthers your cause; your comments above regarding Sharpton is more than enough to ascertain your real views regarding race.

But please, by all means - continue to feign objectivity. We all could use a good laugh.

Don't believe me? Then, how about the Center for Disease Control? Look at chart 10, here:

    http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/previe...

The abortion rate for Black women is THREE TIMES the rate for White women!
  • ms_kendrahouser
THREE TIMES is capitalized so I guess you were trying to make a point there.Everything is white vs black, Im going to assume your white so you must feel proud huh? Regardless of who tops the statistic chart whether it be white black hispanic abortions are a common exscape route for many women of all races for various reasons. If the makers of the ad wanted to help the "cause" they should have addressed abortion where it would appeal to all women and the community as a whole. There is nothing wrong with being informative but the ad was insensitive and pin pointed the African American community. The ad didnt do anything more than piss people off and make Black women feel ashamed rather than offering hope. As a proud, married, educated and hard working Black women expecting my first child this ad made me feel low and disgusted. I think they could have proven their point differently, the intial reaction to the ad is one of anger and disgust no one is going to try to read in between the lines to figure out "what they meant" if they wanted to talk statistics they would have been better off just saying the abortion rate in the African American community is almost 60% lets change this visit our webiste for resources. I'm African American so that means my babygirl is unsafe in my womb? It doesnt same for some african americans it labels us all and I think most people are quite sick of it, I know I am.
  • atrueluvjones29
Thank You!!! You made some awesome points. The ad in itself is ineffective and doesn't resonate with anyone but those looking to slam the black community. Also, I'm still trying to understand why the ad was placed in SoHo and not in a city that's heavy populated by African-American women and men....???

    Shaddap, Paul.
  • heyhohey
It has nothing to do with them being black you racist fucking twat. It has to do with being poor and under privileged. Ever hear of these things called poverty and slaves? Shut your hole bitch.
  • Investigate-NWO-globalists
So your solution to poverty & slavery is abortion???

And your calling others here names??? Look in the mirror!!!
  • chuzzlewit
    ooh. bam.
  • Is there any chance your living in an alternate universe without similar social, economic and circumstantial factors, ones with which you are not personally familiar nor affected by? Just curious. If your universe string is one without racism, poverty, misogyny, illiteracy, rape, coerced sex, and broken family lives, etc, I would love to jump through a wormhole and observe it for a time.

Oh, yes....good ol' Reverend Al, Ring Master Stepinfetchit ofthe Great Race-Based Socio-Genocide. "Line my pockets and I'll say whatever my Massa tells me."

Black women makeup only 13% of the population and 36% of all abortions.

The Black population that the phony paid hack "Reverend" Al purports to represent would be THIRTY SIX PERCENT larger than it is if we weren't committing GENOCIDAL RACIST HOMICIDE against them.

The fact is, "The most dangerous place for an African-American IS in the womb." And Margaret Sanger and the other White racist elites are more than happy to sit back and let their paid opinion pimp, "REVEREND" Al Sharpton, be as complicit as if he scraped the womb himself.

Here's the pictures REVEREND Al should be concerned with; not a beautiful littlegirl.

(Wonder what race this would be? (WARNING: Graphic content.))

  • Yes, Paula... you were VERY cute as a baby... No need to go fishing for compliments.
  • Investigate-NWO-globalists
Very well said! And indeed, Al Sharpton is a fraud!
  • 69GeorgeWBush69
    Is that baby ok?
  • Worry about your own damn people. Like you care....BEOTCH PLEASE!
