Perry Moore, an executive producer of the Chronicles of Narnia trilogy as well as an author and director, was found dead yesterday in the apartment he shared with his boyfriend. Initial reports indicate the 39-year-old died of an oxycontin overdose.

Beyond producing the Narnia movies Moore also wrote a well-received 2007 YA novel about a gay superhero, Hero, which Stan Lee and Showtime were once interested in making into a television show. "We're so sad," his father Bill Moore told the News. "He's been able to reach out and touch a lot of people."

The doorman in his building concurred, telling the Post, "I was talking to him last night. He was such a sweet guy."

Moore was reportedly found yesterday morning by his boyfriend, Hunter Hill, with whom he wrote and directed the movie Lake City. No plans for a memorial have been announced yet.

Dude's gay? wasn't CS Lewis a diehard christian and hated gay people? this is like a jew producing Hitler's mein kampf the movie.

In Lewis's memoir, Surprised By Joy, he writes about homosexual activity among students in English public schools very matter-of-factly. He says something to the effect that he can't criticize something he's never had to face himself. His religious writings are refreshingly non-dogmatic.

Didn't he not allow the oldest Pevensie girl to not enter the kingdom of heaven because she wanted to wear makeup and shit? How's that for christian love?

  • AnneWhateley

Not exactly. She chose not to go, and -- well, if you really want to get into it, here's one really well-thought-out explanation: http://rj-anderson.livejournal...

Not all Christians are assholes. The good ones are the ones you never hear about. We understand the true message of Christianity is LOVE, not HATE.

C.S. Lewis was a Christian but not a hate-filled douchebag. It's hard to believe now, but they used to exist.

Condolences to Hunter Hill and Mr. Moore's family and friends during what must be a very difficult time.

Sloper, to your point, it is pretty interesting that the production company would have hired a gay producer who had written a book about a gay superhero. Walden Media is owned by Philip Anchutz, a conservative Evangelical Christian Republican who funded, among other things, Colorado's Amendment 2 in 1992 which would have made legal discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Mel Brooks already took care of that.
