When Destroying Pot Evidence, Don't Brag About It to Cops

021711benefield.jpg A Queens man who survived the infamous Sean Bell shooting is in trouble with the law again. Police sources tell the Post that Trent Benefield was "brazenly" smoking a marijuana-stuffed cigar, or "blunt," on a street in Jamaica yesterday afternoon when cops spotted him. But Benefield thought fast and swallowed the remaining contraband. Unfortunately, he then proceeded to stop thinking, reportedly telling the officers, "You have nothing on me, I ate it!"

So instead of a misdemeanor charge of burning marijuana "in public view," Benefield is now charged with felony tampering with evidence and obstructing governmental administration. He was released without bail, and according to the Post this is his third arrest since the 2006 Bell shooting, when a confrontation with plainclothes cops sparked a blaze of NYPD gunfire that killed Bell on the eve of his wedding. Benefield was shot in both ankles that night, and won $900,000 in a lawsuit against the city. It's unclear what he's been spending the money on, but we're guessing it's not law school.

A true idiot like no other. Someone take him out back

  • DoctorMemory

It's a good thing that new york state decriminalized personal marijuana use, so that we could stop wasting money on... wait, what?

  • Guest

Remember, this is the idiot who boasted that he was getting his gun from the car, which led to the Sean Bell shooting in the first place.

  • random transplant

He didn't tamper with evidence! He consumed the pot quickly!

Having smoked in the past isn't against the law; either. Given that the cops saw him smoking it though...hugh.

  • Bernie_Geotz_Squirrel_Luv

Unbelievable. Why waste pot by putting it in a cheap cigar?
Aren't you supposed to inhale the pot into your lungs? That's the opposite of how to smoke a cigar, where you're not supposed to inhale.
I sat next to a guy on the Ikea bus and he reeked of pot. did he sit by a pot bonfire or something?

  • masterjarvis

no he probably just smoked some pot

  • sleepswitheyesopen

A blunt has the tobacco innards removed. Thus inhaling is the way to go. The only tobacco left is in the wrap.

And having smoked outside I can say that its just as easy to reek of pot as is would be if you hot boxed a room. If you get a little resin on your lips or fingers, forget about public transit.

I once smoked a quarter of a spliff outside shortly before hailing a cab. As soon as I opened the door the driver smelled the pot.

he broke the cardinal rule of the Magician's Code.

  • Investigate-NWO-globalists

Stop wasting our money & our police & courts on enforcing these bullshit marijuana laws!

BTW, by ingesting the pot, he is likely to have become more stoned than if they had just let him smoke it!

  • sleepswitheyesopen

Not true. The THC has to be activated via heat to be really potent. Eating uncooked marijuana gives you little to no buzz. Especially from the amount that goes into a blunt.

  • Rod

I've eaten a LOT of pot cookies and all of them got me WASTED.

meanwhile, bloomberg is spending billions of YOUR dollars fighting a war on POT SMOKING.

it's more important to him than everything else in nyc.

    it's also the #1 arrest.

are you ready to go egypt yet?

    didn't think so.

I bet you never ever ever stand up for your beliefs.

    let's see...

  • sleepswitheyesopen

Rod, come on dude. At least read the posts you reply to. I said UNCOOKED marijuana gives you little to no buzz. I take it your cookies were BAKED at one point.

Stand up for my beliefs? I dont "believe" in smoking pot. I do it. There is no belief in that equation. Other than the belief that pot will get you high. Which kind of goes out the window anyways with my tolerance to the drug. I dont think smoking pot is right for everyone. It affects everyone differently.

Wtf was with the Egypt comment? What does that have to do with anything? Move to Egypt so I can smoke pot? I can already do that here in NYC. You just have to be smart about it. Dont smoke blunts around cops, and if they see you and you swallow the blunt (or spliff or joint, whatever), DONT TELL THE COP.

  • masterjarvis

    we are friends now

  • masterjarvis

i dont think you understand what hes saying. the pot in your cookies went through a process of being made into pot butter and then baked in the cookies, thus "activated by the heat". you cant just eat raw pot and expect to get high. just read the posting and then digest it a bit and then decide if you want to comment. It spretty simple

  • Unkle_Bob

"I've eaten a LOT of pot cookies and all of them got me WASTED."

    Well! This explains a lot!

  • freddynyc

    Unfortunately, $900,000 can't buy him a brain...

  • zombie_cakes

Good to see he took that incident as a chance to get things straight...

  • Trustafarian

does eating the evidence really work?

  • Petey

    Obviously not.

  • Trustafarian

it only didn't work because he mouthed off.
