Ever since the Nets bowed out of the Carmelo Anthony sweepstakes and the Knicks became the frontrunners, nothing has gone right for the team, who has lost five of their last eight games. A possible deal fell through yesterday because the team allegedly felt that the Denver Nuggets asked for too much (Raymond Felton, Danillo Gallinari, another unnamed starter) for Anthony and aging guard Chauncey Billups. And there is even more confirmation that ever-smiling albatross Isiah Thomas is likely the one guiding the Knicks hand right now.
Thomas refused to comment upon reports that he has been an unofficial consultant to Knicks owner James Dolan during the Anthony saga. He also left an ambiguous note about his future with the team: "I don’t think anyone will say where they will be five years from now. But where ever I am in five years, I will be physically and emotionally prepared for whatever challenge is presented to me.” All this drama is starting to make Frank Isola of the News wonder why Anthony even wants to come to NY; either way, he doesn't believe that any decision will happen till next Thursday's trade deadline: “I still think the Knicks are debating whether or not to just try to wait until the summer to sign him outright, or maybe hope that Denver lowers its asking price a little bit.”
So while almost everything will be fraught with trouble and innuendo in Knickland till the trade deadline next week, there is one person still pretty pumped about the team: lip syncing extraordinaire Keenan Cahill made a "GO NY GO" video with Landry Fields, Andy Rautins and the Knicks City Dancers.
