Video: Pigeon Rides The Subway

We see your latest rat on the subway video, NYC the Blog, and we raise you pigeon on the subway. This freshly uploaded video shows one of New York City's flying rats strutting around the N train, and the man behind the camera says: "Once doors opened he walked out and walked back in the train.... He got off the train at 59th street." Not one straphanger was seen freaking out or trying to stomp on it, and one commuter even fed it some popcorn. According to the laws of natural progression, what this means is by next week we'll be sharing our seats with rabid raccoons. Probably. (Try to get it on video!)

He was just going to the Apple store to get a new pair of headphones for his iPod Peck.

It's a fluffy-feathered pigeon; not a long-tail (ugh) bare-assed rat. BTW -- did the pigeon pay its fare?

  • newUsername

Turn your phone 90 degrees to the right! Jeez!

Heck, pigeons have been riding the Staten Island Ferry every day since about 1905. The Ferryboat Pigeon is actually the official bird of Staten Island (check the official Seal of the Borough of Richmond--it's on there!).

  • BotanistPrime

freeloaders like this are the reason our fares are going up!

  • "whoops, wrong stop"

i hate it when that happens!

  • Damn farebeating pigeons. Give them a ticket!

  • cmdrogogov

Hope the little birdie found its way out again \o_o/

  • robingee

Yeah, where's the Big Strong Man to stomp on the innocent animal?

  • whatidsay

Or the Transit cop giving him a ticket for "theft of services"?

Interesting, when a rat comes aboard, people scream and even attempt to kill the bastard and when a pigeon is running around people feed it. They are both dirty vermin to me; do people realize they carry parasitic mites just like rat do?

  • cmdrogogov

parasitic mites that don't affect human beings.

  • mmheidelberger

Like many parasites, human beings are not its preferred target, but circumstances can still lead to their introduction. Nor can they survive on them alone, but can do plenty of damage and other unpleasantness trying to figure this out. Either way, I favor them no more that I do a rat.

Perhaps, but that Salmonella they carry around sure can affect humans.

  • CityFace

    So don't lick them.

  • BoogieDown

Yeah, I'll do my best to control myself. Perhaps you should pass along your advice to all those disgusting American tourists who practically roll around with these filthy creatures in St. Mark's Square.

  • CityFace

You're just mad 'cause he wouldn't eat your stale popcorn.

  • mmheidelberger

Hew now, my popcorn is always top shelf...

  • scoboco

    Where's its bagel necklace?

  • Bagel necklace pigeon is most likely dead from being pecked to death by the other pigeons
