Video: The Subway Is Your Snot Rag

013111boogerman.jpg With the cost of a subway ride climbing ever-higher, it's nice to see commuters like the guy in this gross video getting his money worth. Why pay extra for a box of tissues when you can simply use the train doors as your hanky? When you think about it, the MTA is really missing out on some merchandising opportunities in the personal hygiene department. Is it smart business to limit merch to MTA-themed socks and T-shirts when there's such a high demand for subway fingernail clippers and spittoons? We're sure this F train nose-picker would have preferred to wipe his booger on a linen handkerchief with an embroidered MTA monogram, but nobody ever gave him the choice. [Via The Awl]

Are you talking about the guy in the video or the wonderful person who decided to add a touch of class to Gothamist by posting this?

  • I've seen worse. Once on the 6 there was a guy sticking his hand down the back of his pants and then rubbing it on the pole. I went to the next car, cops be damned.

I'm sick, I've been feeling dirty, like I licked a chinatown sidewalk. I'm sure I got this nasty cold from touching a pole or something on the train. Now I know it was the F.

You don't wash your hands before you eat?

  • Guest

Of course I do, but if i touched my purse, phone, coat, keys, etc and forgot, then touched my face, etc. Germs spread and I don't have o.c.d. Can't avoid them all.

  • Peanut_Butter

I don't know what's worse - this or the idiot at the idiotarod with the underwear.

  • Guest

at least he's keeping his nose clean?

  • Trustafarian

    Ugh, gross.

I made the mistake of sitting down on the F train the other night and instantly got a whiff of homeless person. Shit stayed in my nostrils for 2 hours.

  • Rocknrope

He should have wiped it on a rat.

  • freddynyc

Seriously, who's more pathetic - this guy or the guy who found it worthwhile to videotape for posterity...?

  • farleft
