During the past month, the snowiest January in NYC on record, we've seen exploding taxis, devious slush mounds, countlessadorable snowmen...and some less-than-satisfactory snow responses. So what better metaphor for our frustration with the snow cleanup then the below video, which shows a worker clearing the street at 57th and 5th of snow, only to throw it back into the street on top of cars. The video poster thinks it was an NYC worker, and notes "for the record, a police officer was standing off to the right, watching this go down." We're not sure if it's a city worker, but it definitely seems like he's purposefully pushing the snow onto the cars, and by proxy, onto our weary, frigid hearts.

Clearly, the city should install giant blow dryers on every street corner so the snow can just be melted into oblivion.

You already ran a story on this phenomenon with plows. Once the temp is about 35 it's actually pretty sensible to put about an inch of snow back in the street. It melts very quickly. Sanitation is doing it too, actually reverse-plowing snow from the sides into the center.
However, spraying snow all over cars while they drive through is pretty rude.
