Ice is no joke! A woman was injured while driving in Sparta, NJ when ice flew off a passing truck and through her Jeep's windshield. According to the Daily Record, "The heavily damaged Jeep was left disabled on the side of the road while the truck, a 2009 Dodge box truck owned by Heine Plumbing & Heating of Newton, drove on - unaware of the flying ice and the damage it caused, according to police."

Cheryl L. Desiderio-Hubere, 51, called the police after being hit—she was found "showered with glass, with shards in her mouth and near her eyes" and was taken to the hospital. Police in a neighboring town stopped the truck driver, Kristopher J. Heine, who didn't realize his vehicle's ice had hit another car. Cops also found other large pieces of broken ice at the top of the truck. Heine was charged with having snow/ice dislodging from a moving vehicle causing injury, and causing property damage.

This guy is getting a bigger penalty than most NYC drivers who kill pedestrians/cyclists with their cars. Something's really wrong here.

That's why I wear a helmet and face mask when I drive after a snowstorm.

Ice on trucks is no joke - remember that snowstorm that turned into an ice storm last year, I saw a sheet of ice the size of a goddamn billboard come careening off the top of a commercial truck on the highway and go flying down towards the street under the overpass. My thought was "I hope noone is underneath that thing."

  • How fortunate that the victim or some witness noted the ownership of the truck.

  • This is blasphemy... this is madness!

I see what you did there.

Isn't there a law that says you must remove snow/ice on your car prior to driving? It's the absolute pits when the idiots in front of you don't clean off the roofs and hoods/trunks of their cars. It's especially infuriating when a giant sheet of snow and ice flies off like a sheet and explodes on the highway when everyone is going 70mph.

It is a law. It's not enforced too strictly around here.

Unnecessary comment: The two people I hate most in the world are people who wear sunglasses on the subway, and people who don't fully clean ice off of their car.

  • I usually have to wear sunglasses on the subway, but I still like you.

C'mon, man. I'm not insulting people with disorders. You know the kind of people I'm talking about.
