Kornacki makes the point for cynicism: "Publicity isn’t as easy to come by for Giuliani as it was once was. When he left the mayoralty in 2002, he was one of America’s most respected and admired politicians. Every time he opened his mouth it was news. But things have changed, thanks in large part to his humbling showing in the 2008 Republican presidential primaries. The “America’s mayor” brand has been significantly devalued. No longer can Rudy cause a stir in the media and political worlds simply by sitting down for an interview and opening his mouth. Now he needs to give people a reason to write and talk about him. And what better way to do that than by pretending to flirt with another campaign?" As for why Rudy seems delusional (maybe sick?), well, it's because he's not seen as a viable 2012 candidate, given how horribly he did in 2008.
The Daily Politics has some predictions on Giuliani's chances: "A new Rasmussen Reports poll informs us that likely GOP primary voters would nominate ex-Mayor Rudy Giuliani for president IF Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich all decided not to run (or ran and flamed out). Giuliani... comes in first among second-tier Republican contenders with 29% support, according to the poll." But Rudy will always have 9/11:

Has anyone heard of a politician moving forward after an acrimonious divorce? Ronald Reagan proved how far one can go if everything worked out with the ex, but isn't it over if the marriage ended badly and publicly?

think the man was seriously effect by the asbestus fallout @ during the 911 clean up.
It's not like he was ever going to win anyway. There are way too many pictures of him dressed in women's clothing, which I have no issue with personally, but on a national level campaign would undoubtedly be twisted by his opponents to make him into a transsexual out to make your children gay.

Sorry Rudy, you blew it last election with one of the most incompetently run campaigns ever seen.
