Penelope The Pit Bull Moves To D.C.

A small update on the pit bull puppy that was discovered tied to the Williamsburg Bridge during a snowstorm last week... she's with her new family (in D.C.) and looks happy as can be. Her new humans named her Penelope, and Nick at Scouting NY (who helped save and deliver her to her new home) reports that "when she arrived at her new home, she was timid at first, and even refused to go anywhere near the bed due to some sort of past training. They quickly broke her of this, and she spent the night cuddled up with them until late the next morning."

She lives with a husband, a wife, two pugs, and plenty of new toys. She's been to the vet, tested, treated, and soon-to-be microchipped. Her new family seems very happy with her... even if she snores.

Here's more info on where to help rescue one of the many stray pit bulls in New York.

I saved a dog in Spanish Harlem a year ago and am still looking for a home for him. He is posted and CL and being boarded in Queens w/ Raja the Dog Guru who trained him. Here is his story and post http://newyork.craigslist.org/...
So far I've been looking for a year and I could sure use a boost in the effort, you see I was permanently maimed while enroute to rescue him. My leg was horribly broken, I spent weeks in the hospital, have had 3 surgeries and now have a permanent damage to my left leg. I can no longer walk or scoot around to post flyers for him. So, if anyone has a lead on a fellow who might love YaJoe and give him a forever home please give him your consideration, he really deserves it.

If you're having trouble finding a home, please contact Animal Haven (www.animalhavenshelter.org); they should be able to help.

    Hope this helps!

I love this story. Congrats to the happy DC couple on their new bouncing baby pitbull.

Here's hoping they don't tire of her being on the bed and then have to retrain her again to avoid it, thus further traumatizing her.

absolutely awesome, nice change to see the internet used for something other than snark and bitching.
