A fire that broke out last night at 6 p.m. in a Jamaica metal-works warehouse wasn't brought under control until 4:40 a.m. this morning. The eight-alarm fire in the one-story building at 95-20 150th Street was particularly stubborn, and a neighboring building was evacuated. Seven firefighters were injured; according to the AP, the FDNY said "three firefighters sustained burns, one to the face and head" and were taken to the hospital while the four other firefighters suffered less serious injuries. The Daily News adds that the ceiling collapsed on them and one firefighter had a back injury.
