A man suspected of attacking two women in Williamsburg apartment building elevators was arrested. Rayquan Williams, 21, was charged with sex abuse, menacing, and robbery for the attacks that took place just a block from the 90th Precinct. One resident told WCBS 2, "I’m not surprised at all. It’s a bad neighborhood in many ways. It’s a good neighborhood and it’s bad. We have good and bad everywhere.”

In the first incident occurred on New Year's Day in a building on Manhattan Avenue between Seigel and Moore Streets. The attacker forced a 63-year-old from the elevator into a hallway and sexually assaulted her.

The second attack occurred on Wednesday at a Flushing Avenue building. The 49-year-old victim told NY1 that a man entered the elevator, asked her repeatedly if she was afraid, and told her to get out, "He insisted, so I said, let me get off because he's starting to get a little more aggressive. So I got off and I just started screaming, calling for help and knocking on everyone's door. He said something like, 'I have a weapon.' I didn't care. I just started screaming even louder. I kept on knocking on doors and then finally someone came out and [the attacker] ran down the stairway. And that's the last time I saw him."

A tip, based on surveillance photographs the police released, led to Williams' arrest.
