Let's Save This Cute Puppy Today

Just look at that face!

Last year we found a dog wandering the streets of Williamsburg and took him in to the office. After a trip to the vet, a microchip was discovered, and the dog and owner were reunited. Sadly, not all stories end this way, and earlier this week Nick Carr at ScoutingNY took in a dog that was left tied to the Williamsburg Bridge's pedestrian walkway... during the snowstorm. He says his friend found the dog "shivering, completely drenched and half-frozen... we’re almost certain her owners left her out in it overnight to die." She was taken to the vet, bathed, fed and is now rotating between the friends; Carr says "she’s been a doll. Hasn’t barked once—in fact, I think the only sound I’ve heard was when she began whimpering when I left the room."

Learn more about the pup (who is 1 or 2 years old) here... because maybe you'll be smitten and want to adopt her! She needs a "forever home," and the fear is that she'll end up at a kill shelter if one isn't found soon.

  • My husband found a lost / abandonned dog last week wandering down our street. We took him in for the night and managed to find a no kill shelter in Kensington that would shelter him the next day. If anyone is missing a puggle, get in touch... partyliz@gmail.com

Decent chance the dog's owner threw themselves off the bridge. They figured someone would come along and take the dog in.

Check w/ local precincts and see if there was a jumper that night.

  • Scouting NY has over 200 comments and I saw at least eight who said they would take the dog, it sounds like this one might end OK.

  • This puppy is really cute and I think this breed is pointer. Pointers are intelligent, they are fast and faithful and they are good as a hunter dog.

Read the article . The article states that it is a pitt bull. Stop making half assed guesses and musings.

That Scouting NY site is really slow to load. They need better web hosting.

  • TheRealCannibal

I'm pretty sure the overwhelming comments aren't helping

Maybe if we get enough cute puppies together we can take down the whole web.

The Brooklyn Animal Foster Network is also a very good organization.

I would also recommend Sean Casey Animal Rescue in Brooklyn - they can also help with placement

Whoever did this has a heart colder than any blizzard.

Why can't he become the Gothamist office dog?

GOTHAMIST! OFFICE DOG! GOTHAMIST! OFFICE DOG! GOTHAMIST! OFFICE DOG!

    Oh wait, we're not chanting?

(Seriously, if you keep the pooch as an office dog I will donate food/money if you let me come and pet him once in a while)

And there could be a Name The Office Dog contest! (Someone still has to take him home at the end of the day though)

If you're having trouble finding someone to adopt, contact Animal Haven (www.animalhavenshelter.org) asap! We can help you find someone to adopt her!
We're a no-kill shelter and we have some of the most sophisticated treatment, care, and help out of most shelters.

people that do this crap to animals need to be locked up for good. i've witnessed first hand someone getting out of a car, tying their dog to a fire hydrant in the snow and driving off. good thing i got his plate number while he did it. asshole.

  • robingee

What a piece of human garbage.

  • Rocknrope

I wish I could tether the doggie's owners to the Williamsburg bridge overnight, preferably to the top of it.

  • Inconcievable de Impublishable

    Not underneath it?
