Anti-Mosque Protest Tossing in Walmart Just for the Hell of It

Remember the "Ground Zero" mosque? Yeah, we still have to listen to people rant about that in 2011. But at least the anti-mosque masses are trying to keep it fresh—their upcoming protest against the proposed Islamic community center planned for Lower Manhattan is also a pro-Walmart demonstration. Why not? It may seem like a bit of a stretch, but not if you're Pamela Geller and you know how to connect the dots that the lamestream media is too biased to point out.

Geller is calling all Walmart supporters to join her rally tomorrow in solidarity, because she thinks the City Council is targeting both groups. You'll recall that Council Speaker Christine Quinn—the very same Bloomberg protegee who supports the mosque—had planned to hold hearings on what might be Walmart's first NYC location (in East New York), but that hearing—which Walmart refused to attend—has been postponed because of the impending snowstorm. We assume this means Geller's protest is postponed too, but in the words of Tony Robbins, God's delays are not God's denials, and we're sure the anti-mosque, pro-Walmart coalition will be able to use this insane protest sign in the future. We certainly hope so, because "Walmart" and "Ground Zero Mosque" is an SEO match made in heaven. (Maybe "George Clooney" will film a "cat video" counter-protest!)

Meanwhile, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio has released a report about Walmart’s "Economic Footprint." It's a comprehensive review of over fifty studies on Walmart’s economic impact across the country, co-authored with the Hunter College Center for Community Planning and Development. You can print out the whole pdf here for your rush hour reading pleasure, but the takeaway is that a Walmart in New York City would likely "eliminate more jobs than it creates, result in the loss of independently owned small businesses, and create an increased burden on taxpayers." As de Blasio puts it, "The history of the last decade tells us that Walmart stands to be our City’s Trojan Horse." Will it also turn out to be the mosque's Achilles' Heel? Or will the libtard Lotus-Eaters win the war? The saga continues...
