What Does Apple Have Up Its Sleeve Now?

No line... yet (via Jason Kuffer's flickr).
Is Apple planning to launch a new product? Yes, of course. They always are. But are they planning to launch a new product later this month? Most likely; they do have a history of launching products in January just after CES so as to make all the other tech companies look slow. So we buy AppleInsider's report that Apple's store employees are being told not to take vacations during the last week of January and the first two weeks of February. But what product or products will be keeping those poor employees away from their loved ones? The media guessing-game is exactly what Steve Jobs loves.

And we'll admit it, we find the guessing games a little fun too. So! The most obvious launch would be the long-rumored Verizon iPhone (the unicorn of smartphones), which would make a lot of people we know very happy. But just as likely is a follow-up to the hotcake-out-selling iPad (presumably faster, lighter and with a camera to allow "FaceTime"). It has been a year since the first one was announced, after all. Or it could just be a new set of old-fashioned computers and laptops. Or, well, it could be something else entirely. Guesses? Hopes? Dreams? Put 'em in the comments.

The next thing from Apple will be overpriced, under tested, under powered like most of their first releases. If you want a great computer, build it yourself.

Jobs will be changing from black turtlenecks to blue turtlenecks.
That or the Jesus phone will be coming to Verizon.

It's either a new iPad or the verizon iPhone. Could possibly be both but if they're making sure they're fully staffed and issuing a vacation blackout it seems the iPhone is most likely the reason.

That seems to be the current rumor.

Yeah, I too was going to hope/guess that they will be the first mainstream manufacturer to release a TeleDildonics products for the masses.

  • How about an iPad that doesn't cost an extra $150 for 3G capability? Or one that supports Flash and therefore is actually useful for Web access?

I'll be money that iPad 2.0 is going to make an appearance. Better OS and more functionality that they could have built into the original if they hadn't rushed it to market.

    The new hybrid iBaby/Cylon.
