The VeriPhone Cometh?

We'd been wondering what Apple had up its sleeve and now would you lookie here, Verizon has gone and announced a special media event for Tuesday. No details have been announced, but folks are about 95% sure we're going to be getting that mythical smartphone, the Verizon iPhone (the VeriPhone?). And the fact that Gizmodo did not get an invite certainly helps that argument. Of course, there is still a good chance that Apple will be making its own separate announcement later in the month. But in the meantime, Verizon customers can commence getting excited. Or not!

I would rather use a pay phone...

Until Tuesday's event Gizmodo always got invited to Verizon events. It has to involve Apple.

What's everyone's freakin obsession with the iPhone? EVERYONE I know who has one has broken it within a year and/or absolutely hates it.

Don't the Android based phones do all the same things as an iPhone, but better?

  • nvk

I've used and owned both, unlike most fanatics of either OS and because of the limitations, the experience is that much better on an iPhone. It's just that this country does retarded, anti-competitive things such as using different frequency bands, so you can't take your iPhone to T-Mobile. It's not that it's not technologically possible, it's just that telecom companies are greedy fucks.

As far as the hardware and options are concerned, yes. However, from the average person's perspective, the software/experience doesn't seem as refined/easy as iOS. The haphazard firmware release schedule also doesn't help as some Android owners with phones that still have 2.1 will attest to.

  • Really? People I know LOVE it. In fact, it seems to be an obsession. . .

    So is Botox.

I am not getting excited until I have one in my hand. Verizon customers have been pushed a pulled for what seems like years. I am already over the hype.

  • Why would I want a Verizon iPhone, considering that my AT&T iPhone has sucked balls ever since the big firmware change last summer? The whole point of Apple products is that their operating systems are supposed to be ultra-stable. A phone that locks up when it rings and crashes when playing music is the freaking opposite of stable. Not to mention the whole "multi-tasking" thing is complete bullshit. This was my first and last Apple product, at least shitty Microsoft products are cheap.

if verizon does get a iphone than you will see an enormous increase in quality on at&t as countless people jump off ship and then all traffic will see-saw to verizon thereby crippling verizon.

  • That may fix the network issues - which I knew about going in. But it won't fix the firmware issues which are my biggest problem at this point.

  • NlGGAZ

you have a 3gs right? yeah 4.0 sucks on that system. if you get a iphone 4 and jailbreak it it's smooth sailing.

You guys are speaking a language I do not understand.

    What, English?
