LES Fire Claims One Life

201101_fire.jpg A fire broke out this morning in a six-story tenement at 124 Ludlow Street, claiming one life and sending a second person to the hospital with minor injuries. The blaze broke out a little past 11 a.m. and was brought under control within the hour, apparently not soon enough for one unlucky soul who found DOA. Currently no information about the deceased has been released, but the owner of the property assures the Times his building was equipped with smoke detectors. Update: DNA has more info on the victim, a woman in her 70s who was allegedly using her oven for heat.
