Bloomberg Compared Unfavorably With Snow King Giuliani

Just about everyone has been congratulating piling on Mayor Bloomberg and his administration for their excellent job cleaning the streets post-blizzageddon. But the Mayor didn't truly hit bottom until this Post lede today: "If Mayor Bloomberg had taken a page from Rudy Giuliani's snowstorm playbook of 1996, he might not be getting pilloried for blowing the blizzard of 2010." At least now there's nowhere to go but up?

The Post takes a look at Giuliani's public schedule and response to the blizzard of '96, which also dropped over 20' of snow on the city, and finds Bloomberg's handling of the situation incredibly lacking. Giuliani gave updates on the city's response at 10 a.m., 5:30 p.m. and again at 10 p.m. on the first day of the storm, followed by a late-night pizza delivery to 911 operators just before midnight. On the second day of the storm, Giuliani made at least six stops around the city to various sanitation garages, police precincts, and flooded areas. On the first day of this year's storm, Bloomberg held just one press conference, and on the second day, made four storm-related appearances.

Yesterday, Bloomberg appeared at a Queens hospital for disabled kids, where he told the News his resolutions for the new year included a vow to "work harder, make the city better, keep my waistline down and help St. Mary's." Maybe he should consider adding "study Rudy's playbook" to that list.

rudi juliannee was almost as fake as bloombucks.

rudi just made sure the cameras were on him at all times so it looked like he was 'on the job", (doing nothing)

Giuliani and Bloomberg. Two arrogant putzes. They make Dinkins look like a superhero.

  • Anyone but Obama

Bloomberg is an arrogant, pompous bum. He's a liar, that's been proven. It's a fact. He told the people he wouldn't throw out the two elections on term limits where the people voted to have TWO term limits so he could run for a 3rd term. He lied. a few times saying he wouldn't go against the will of the people.

He made 6 BILLION dollars in his 2nd term while the rest of the billionaires all lost billions. Coincidence? I don't think so, being mayor had something to do with it.

I don't know why so many people like this bum, look at all the taxes and surcharges he has put in place. He dreams of it and then he wants the people to do his bidding. He will have you paying to breathe if he could.

He hasn't any idea of what people have to go through. He claims he takes the train to work. Remember last year when they caught him getting driven in TWO SUVs to the express station. He lied once again.

This man is a liar people and always will be. I can't wait for this bum to leave office.

Oh yeah, he is now FOR term limits again. He doesn't want anyone else to get 3 terms. What an egotistical piece of cr@p.

RE: He made 6 BILLION dollars in his 2nd term while the rest of the billionaires all lost billions. Coincidence? I don't think so, being mayor had something to do with it.

That just sounds like a jealous rant to me. Show me the "rest of the Billionaires" that lost money. Last year was an up year. Get over it.

And even if you take the car to the train station you are still "taking the train to work."

You guys sound like a bunch of jealous haters! If you could do it better why not run and prove it rather than sit on your ass and post on Gothamist! (I know I could not do it better so I sit here and post away...)

  • Anyone but Obama

Ok. Just Google with keywords '25 richest men in the world 2009'. Pick the top selection and you'll see a graph. Of those 25 ONLY Bloomberg made money, the other 24 lost billions.

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to find this out in about 2 minutes by doing a search. If you want, I can send you a letter written in crayon if that would be easier for you to understand.

Whole idea of taking train is to conserve energy. How is taking a bunch of SUVs to a train station doing that?

Jealous haters? Hey genius, he stole your vote on term limits - TWICE. You shouldn't be allowed to vote anymore if that doesn't bother you.

He's a LIAR because he said he would never, ever go against the will of the people and overturn term limits. He said it a few times. Once again, you can find it in a minute by Googling and listen to the audio.

hey bloomturd troll, SORRY but it's not open to debate.

Bloomturd ran for mayor precisely to double his money. and as mayor, he's used City Hall to help GOldman Sachs, BP, and all the other corporations he OWNS STOCK IN.

that's illegal, so mike pretends his empire is in a "blind trust" (run by Steve Rattner, the criminal just busted by feds AND the NY AG) and he just can't recall which major corporations he holds stock in and personally profits from.

he also illegally profits by admittedly installing bilions more worth of terminals at all the wall street firms he bolsters as mayor. none of this is remotely legal. but who is going to go after the guy with the biggest guns?

the latest bloomberg lp report shows all his businesses failed again last year except for the terminals, which is why he supported the MOSQUE to increase his business in Dubai and the UAE.

don't forget that mike has said all along he will never return to his company and will sell it AFTER he leaves city hall, when it made most sense to see it before or during his tenure as mayor, unless, of course, the real goal was to use City Hall to promote his business ventures (which just happened to be all named after him, so running for mayor was an automatic conflict of interest: he used City hall to promote his brand!)

shut up you stupid troll. everyone knows bloomberg is the biggest crook in NYC history and your house of cards is collapsing.

So, what - are you going to make out with Bloomberg now?

Do you agree with the way he is running the city?

Does it matter whether that particular person or if you can run the city?

    Are you rich?

  • Rod

don't forget that bloomberg promised in 2001 to never again outspend his opponent in any election. he claimed back then that he had to spend $75 mil to Mark Greens' $16 mil because Green had better name recognition than "Bloomberg" (whose name is in all papers every day b/c he supplies news like Associated Press) (and whose name is all over NYC every day since he makes record bribes, uh "charitable donations" to so many group to buy their support).

So he outspent his opponents even more next time

    2005: $85 mil vs $10 mil
    2009: $110 mil vs $9 mil

This is the superliar who said he's independent, which is why he ran as a REPUBLICAN all 3 times, and gave record donations to REPUBLICANS across america and in albany.

the man has never told the truth.

Wow Bloomberg visited a hospital in Queens? I thought he shut them all down last year...

can't you remove these stupid spammers?

  • twophrasebark

"On Friday, Bloomberg said the "biggest difference" between this storm and others was that, this time, buses and other vehicles got stranded on hundreds of roads and had to be towed before plowing could begin."

That's because you didn't declare a snow emergency. Other differences:

More people got stuck... because the snow hadn't been plowed.

More people got stuck... because the streets hadn't been salted.

More people got stuck... because the trains weren't running and they got in their cars.

    Duh!!!

why wasn't bloombucks jailed for killing all the workers at ground zero by telling them the air was clean?

manslaughter is mike's middle name, from nixmary brown to those who died after the most incompetent handling of a snowstorm this nation has ever seen.

attacking bloombucks as a incompetent is like attacking hitler for being rude. the mayor is a murderer and even DA Morgenthauu said so but claimed he couldn't arrest mike due to "soverign immunity".
